Prepared Drums Vol.I is a limited edition handmade dubplate, a format that pays homage to black labeled Dj tools records and dub versions. De Santis atypical cross-over of percussion languages is forced to twisted loop structures where the hypnotic generates the unexpected. Collecting two years of sound investigations the record also witnesses the making of a new drumming language, while the editing recalls the grooves unfaithfulness by breaking the chronological tracks order.
Berlin-based percussionist and producer,as well as the founder and curator of Dromoscope platform-label Daniele De Santis is also a prolific music instruments creator. While developing a unique instrumental language, rooted in oriental polyrhythmism - through abstract electronica and free jazz - De Santis carry out a weighty research in sound engineering and diy hardware crafting. This research has recently bloomed into Prepared Drums, a solo performance focused on the integration of self-built experimental microphones and effects to the drum-set. De Santis has performed in international festivals such as Berlin Atonal, CTM Festival & CTM Siberia, Strøm, PHONO, Irtijal and Terraforma.
